Tics are fast, repetitive muscle movements that result in sudden and difficult to control body jolts or sounds. There are various types of tics that affect children of all ages.
Tics are not usually serious and normally improve over time. But they can be frustrating and interfere with everyday activities
Tourette's Disorder is a common neurodevelopmental disorder. The key features are tics – involuntary sounds and movements, which must be present for at least 12 months to meet the diagnostic criteria.
It is not possible to predict how Tourette's Disorder might affect someone long-term.
